Steps to Receive an Iron Infusion
Iron Order Set and Process
Your healthcare provider needs to complete and sign an iron order. Our SRx Pharmacy/SRx Clinics team can assist in handling the paperwork exchange with your healthcare provider. Your prescriber should fax the completed iron form to our SRx Administration team at 1-866-640-1749.Bloodwork & Consultation
Before your consultation and infusion, updated bloodwork is necessary to tailor our services to your specific needs. Our pharmacy team will review your bloodwork results, conduct a consultation, and discuss your applicable insurance coverage.Insurance and Payment
Most insurance covers about 80% of the medication cost, with a copay charged for the remainder.Appointment Scheduling
Once the pharmacy has completed your consultation, verified insurance coverage, and processed the infusion fee, your orders will be sent to your preferred clinic. The SRx infusion clinic team will then contact you to schedule your appointment. If you received your medication from another pharmacy, please bring it along with a copy of your physician’s orders to your appointment.Iron Infusions Made Easy: Quick, Simple, Done!

Most patients can drive themselves to and from appointments and return to work after the infusion. You may need to arrange for parking.During the Infusion
Our experienced and compassionate nurses will make sure you are comfortable throughout the infusion process. The infusion takes place in a soothing, relaxed environment. You will be closely monitored to ensure everything progresses smoothly. Feel free to communicate any concerns or needs you have during the process; our team is here to support you every step of the way.Post-Infusion Care
After your infusion, we provide detailed post-treatment instructions tailored to your needs. Our team will arrange any necessary follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and discuss the next steps in your treatment plan. You will also receive a pamphlet with information about the medication you received and post-infusion expectations and instructions. Please follow up with your provider for post-infusion bloodwork after 4-6 weeks.Iron Medications
Monoferric
Follow up with your healthcare provider for post-infusion bloodwork after 6 weeks. If you do not have a bloodwork requisition, please contact your provider to have one mailed or emailed to you.
Venofer
Venofer is prescribed for pregnant and breastfeeding patients, as well as pediatrics aged 13-18. If Monoferric is prescribed for these patients, it should be amended to Venofer as Monoferric has not been tested in Canada. SRx follows Pfizer’s recommendation and will not infuse these patient populations with Monoferric.
